G. R. Beavers OD, PA

Dr. Beavers earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston in 1984 and his Doctor of Optometry in 1988. He was recognized by his peers and faculty in clinical skills and received several clinical recognition awards. He completed his external rotation at the University of Texas Health and Sciences Center at Hermann Hospital in Cornea and External Disease with the highest possible evaluation score.

After graduation, he set up practice in Spring, TX where he has practiced for the last 20 years, while working for 2 years in a retina specialty practice in the Texas Medical Center.

Dr. Beavers has served on the Texas Department of Health Professional Licensing and Credentialing Committee. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, and the International Society of Refractive Surgery. From 1999 thru 2001, he was Associate Clinical Director for The Laser Eye Center in Houston and now works closely with Mann Eye Institute on cataract and lasik co-management. Dr. Beavers is certified by the International Board of Examiners in Optometry in the treatment and management of diseases of the eye and by the Texas Optometry Board as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.

He has 3 lovely children and has been married to his beautiful wife for 32 years. They are active in the Methodist Church and all enjoy water skiing, boating, sports, and spending time with each other. Dr Beavers is an avid sports fan and traveled with the Houston Astros to their Spring training facility in Florida. There, he performed vision exams on both major and minor league players, coaches and staff, including 2005 when they went to the World Series. Dr. Beavers includes his staff and patients as members of his extended family.
